I really enjoyed this first volume. In my youth, I daydreamed of being a mountain man of the 1800’s. Books like this take me literarily where chronologically I was not meant to be. No, it’s not high literature, but it is good storytelling about a fascinating epoch in our nation’s history.......more

Being a fan of history and the Santa Fe Trail, I especially enjoyed this book. I found it difficult to put down and completed reading it in two sessions.
