Robert E. Howard (1906–1936) was an American pulp fiction writer who is best known as the creator of Conan, a character that has been featured in film, television, comics, and other media. Despite his suicide at the age of thirty, Howard wrote a huge number of stories in a variety of genres, including fantasy, westerns, horror, and even boxing stories.
A very strong start as Conan spends the night at a cheap and atmospheric tavern, and someone sneaks in while he’s trying to sleep. After that though, there is quite a bit of racism. Good stuff! So, although I'm mid-thirties, this was the first Conan story I've ever read. Not my fault, really, as I just didn't grow up with this stuff, and was never really interested in fantasy, as a genre.
