For decades, the forests surrounding the remote Northern Ontario town of Kasapakee have kept their secrets.

Now they are taking them back.

When a series of brutal killings leaves victims torn apart in ways no wolf or bear could explain, fear spreads through the isolated mill town. As daylight fades earlier with each passing autumn evening, rumors of an ancient predator begin to replace reason.

The Ontario Provincial Police dismiss the attacks as the work of a dangerous animal—until the body count continues to rise.

Newly promoted Inspector Bradley McDonald is sent north on what should have been a routine investigation, accompanied by veteran Sergeant Lucas Bouchard, a seasoned officer who has seen almost everything.

Almost.

The evidence refuses to make sense. Witnesses describe a creature that should not exist. Hunters vanish without a trace. Entire search parties return convinced something is hunting them instead.

As panic grips the town, an Ojibwe elder warns that the killings are not random, nor are they the work of any ordinary predator. Some wounds run deeper than flesh. Some scars never heal. And the oldest legends are born from truths people choose to forget.

With each passing night, Bradley and Lucas find themselves pulled further from the world they know and into one where the line between folklore and reality no longer exists.

Because something is waiting in the forest.
