Synopsis

Anty travels to the Riviera to finally have that awkward ‘did you murder my father’ conversation with his mother, but instead finds himself in the ticklish position of defending her and an innocent elephant against charges of a murder that no one could have committed.Like all Anty Boisjoly mysteries, Reckoning at the Riviera Royale is a stand-alone stumper populated with eccentric characters and composed of impossible murder and improbable intrigues, delivered with signature Boisjoly banter, and it’s best enjoyed by those who like a little humour in their whodunnit.Anty Boisjoly is a serious experiment in a whimsical line — Christie-esque locked-room mysteries written in the style of PG Wodehouse. The reviews are in and the experiment is a success. Readers emphasise in particular the witty and whimsical first-person voice of Anty Boisjoly narrating the nevertheless twisty mysteries.

About PJ Fitzsimmons

Phillip “PJ” Fitzsimmons writes the Anty Boisjoly series from the shady side of Montmartre in Paris, where he lives with his wife and two children. The series is the result of Phillip deciding, after years of ghost-writing everything from thrillers to Victorian romances, to write that which he himself most wanted to read—locked room mysteries in the motif of the world of PG Wodehouse.

I can't recall how many of these Anty books I have read, but figured I could enjoy reading it throughout a sleepless night due to the usual humorous antics, unusual situations and expected confrontation with his mother on the subject of the death of his father. Some of it amused and some of it annoy......more

Anty is in Cap Royale, an island, if you can call it that, on the French Riviera visiting his mother. Anty expects to confront her about his father's demise and instead discovers a new murder! A floating circus has made anchor at Cap Royale and the clown, Malandrino the Magnificent, has been killed......more

I loved being back in the world of Any Boisjoly! While visiting his Mom at the Riviera, Anty gets pulled into another murder case; this time defending an elephant accused of murder. This lighthearted, humorous mystery was fun to read. I did not figure this one out; I was having too much fun enjoying......more

I tend to enjoy Fitzsimmons' fun plays with words and silly banter. It has a strong Wodehouse feel to it usually. This time there were several places where it got old. What I don't know is if that was me or the story. The mysteries (there were several) were a lot of fun to figure out with plenty of......more

Another classic by P.J. Fitzsimmons. This is another Antony Boisjoly murder mystery. This book is little different from other previous book because in this Igor Vittersham is missing. Antony alone solves the mystery and also there is some love life as well. In this story Antony a juniper club member......more
