Synopsis

Before starships became commonplace and before science fiction settled into familiar patterns, Murray Leinster was already imagining worlds transformed by invention, discovery, and the unexpected consequences of human ambition. Widely known as one of the architects of modern science fiction, Leinster brought intelligence, suspense, and boundless imagination to every story he wrote. This collection gathers nine unforgettable tales that showcase the remarkable range of his storytelling.Follow the adventures of the brilliant but unpredictable Bug Gregory in all four stories of the celebrated saga. It begins with The Gregory Circle, where an extraordinary invention threatens to change everything. The saga continues through The Nameless Something, The Deadly Dust, and The Seven Temporary Moons, each presenting a new scientific mystery and a fresh challenge for Gregory’s inventive mind.Step into alternate realities with The Other Now, a story that explores what might happen if another version of history suddenly collided with our own. Experience the chaos of Invasion, where humanity faces a threat unlike any it has ever encountered. In Nobody Saw the Ship, a baffling mystery unfolds around a vessel that seems to appear and disappear without explanation.Leinster also turns his imagination toward future warfare in Tanks, blending technological innovation with gripping action. And in The Life–Work of Professor Muntz, scientific ambition leads to consequences both surprising and unforgettable. These stories capture the spirit of the Golden Age of Science Fiction: bold ideas, ingenious inventions, strange phenomena, and ordinary people confronting extraordinary situations.
