Synopsis

'A life-changing book for anyone looking to live better, for longer'
Rosie Nixon, author, speaker and editor

An empowering guide to the importance of embracing regular and varied natural movement in daily life, in order to live a healthier, happier life and keep doing the things you love as you age.

This isn't a book about extreme fitness or unrealistic routines. It's a practical, inspiring invitation to rethink how you move throughout everyday life, highlighting why how you move matters just as much as how often, and giving lots of practical ideas for how to make everyday movement more frequent, more varied, and more meaningful, whatever your starting point.

With simple, accessible changes you can build into your unique routine, without needing extra time or equipment, you'll learn how to boost strength, mobility and confidence in ways that last a lifetime. Whether you're looking to move better, feel stronger, or just keep doing the things you love for decades to come, this book will help you make movement a natural, joyful, and lasting part of your life.

About Wendy Welpton

Wendy Welpton founded Reclaim Movement after a running injury at 40 turned into 4 years of chronic pain. In her search for answers and to reclaim her own movement she discovered natural movement. The benefits of using whole-body movement patterns and the philosophy of training real life practical movements and moving the way the human body was designed, reframed her view from being a sedentary athlete, to choosing to 'move well' for life. Originally MovNat certified and now a Human Movement Restoration Specialist & FRC certified, she supports people to improve their movement habits through online courses, coaches group movement classes in an online membership, offers private coaching sessions online and in Oxford and is the host of the 5 star rated podcast, 'Make Movement Matter'.

In a modern world which is increasingly sedentary and with healthy ageing an increasing priority for us all, movement has never been more important. Having rediscovered the joy and benefits of moving during perimenopause, I'm now in my 60s and very much enjoying this post menopause chapter! Through research and personal experience I've realised that ageing does not mean inevitable decline. What it does mean however is that we need to prioritise how we move throughout the day as well as during exercise.

Wendy's practical and inspiring framework gives us all a structure to help guide those daily movement choices, creating confidence, joy and optimism for the future. Jo Moseley (@jomoseley), Bestselling award-winning author, Paddleboarder, sea dipper and beach cleaner

Finally, a way to look at movement that fits naturally into my day rather than something I have to force into an already busy lifestyle - practical, encouraging and genuinely life-changing. Hilary Salzman, author of The Roar of Her Story

It's so important not just to exercise but to keep moving your body in many and variable ways and to keep doing this well into midlife and beyond. This book is full of fascinating science that supports this and then practical ways to fit more movement into everyday life Andy Bryant - Natural Podiatrist

To move well for life, you have to enjoy moving your body - and that doesn't come from pressure or perfectionism. Wendy understands what real people need: to feel confident using their bodies in ways that fit real life. This book doesn't just inspire you to do that - it also gives you the tools to make it happen. Kate Oakley, Founder of Your Future Fit

I am glad to endorse Move Well For Life, believing as I do that a regular routine of exercise is one of the three pillars of a healthy life (the others being a sensible vegan-ish diet, and a positive mindset). This book not only provides us all with the essential information about good exercise, but also helps us develop our own personal regime of 'moving well', and practising it for the rest of our lives. If you want to 'live longer, better', this is the book for you. Sir Chris Ball - Academic, Lecturer, Warden and distance runner, founder of the Brathay 10 in10 challenge
