Rodgers is a member of the Errands of Eros, a clandestine brotherhood that sends its agents into dying marriages to provide what absent husbands cannot. It's noble work — or so the oath says. His latest mission takes him to Poagstown, where the bartenders are friendly, the burgers are exceptional, and a neglected wife named Bessa is eager for his particular brand of salvation. What Rodgers doesn't know is that Poagstown runs on its own secret society, its own sacred oaths, and a very different understanding of what it means to consume.
