Synopsis

With Nealy, horses come first. So when her two grown children's irresponsible acts nearly cost her Shufly, she throws them both off Blue Diamond Farm, choosing to work alone rather than give them another chance to risk her dream of training the promising foal into a Triple Crown winner. But while the estrangement from her children doesn't seem to affect her work, inside, she's shattered. So when the irresistible Hatch Littletree, her ex-husband's law partner, pays her an unexpected visit, the comfort he brings her is much needed. Hatch, however, wants more than to just comfort Nealy - he is determined to see her heal the painful rift between herself and her children. But as Nealy struggles with that estrangement and running the stables alone, the unexpectedly strong feelings and terrifying situations she experiences may tax and test her normally indomitable spirit past its breaking point.

About Fern Michaels

Self-described as someone who can scribble notes and tell great stories, author Fern Michaels, aka Mary Ruth Kuczkir, is a very prolific writer having written 147 books, with 90 being on the New York Times best sellers list. She was born in Pennsylvania, coming into this world as "a dinky little thing", as her father called her. She spent the early part of her adult life becoming a wife and mother of five children. After her children were grown, she separated from her husband, who was a very negative person, and began putting pen to paper to begin her writing career. She had always loved books, and writing one seemed to be the best chance for her to make her own way through the rest of her life. Her first manuscript was not published, but the second attempt was, and so began her illustrious career.

Her successful career allowed her to put all five children through college, on her own, which she claims is one of her most proud accomplishments. She says that when all is considered, family is the most important thing. Fern also bought a beautiful old (300 year old) plantation in South Carolina, where she still lives today. Her grandmother gave her very sage advice many years ago, which she lives by today.......when God is good to you, you have to give back. She developed the Fern Michaels Foundation which grants four scholarships to deserving students. She also opened a pre-school and day care center for single moms who are having a hard time supporting their family.

The quote that best describes is a Dutch saying.......If you can't whistle on your way to work, you don't belong in that job. She follows by saying, "I whistle all day long".

I had so hoped that I would not come across the second book in this triology. In the first book, I learned to dislike Nealy Clay. In the second book, I learned to loath her. What a horrible mother. I could not buy her kicking her two kids out of her life "so they could spread their wings". Yeah, rig......more

This is the second book in a trilogy. After reading the first, I wanted to continue reading to find out what happened to the protagonist, Nealy Diamond Clay. While I enjoyed the storyline, the dialogue was so stilted my enjoyment was diminished so much that I have no desire to read the final book.......more

The story is continued from book one and another awesome story! Both Nick and Emmie have been thrown off Blue Diamond Ranch by Nealy, and Emmie is pregnant with a little girl. Flyby's colt is born and Nealy spends her time training Shufly for the Triple Crown. She expects him to be labeled the horse......more
