Synopsis

Nearly a year has passed since Steve and Sarah Miller discovered Lentari through a magical portal in their own home in Idaho. Mikal, the young Lentarian crown prince, is happy, healthy, and adapting well to living in modern America with his bodyguards. However, their peace is soon shattered when Steve gets a frightening message—the queen has been kidnapped and their help is needed! They leave Prince Mikal safe and secure in Coeur d'Alene with Annie, Sarah's sister, and Tristan, his tutor. But, as kids will do, Mikal sneaks through the portal to try to help, and his presence in Lentari becomes known. And it's the crown prince who is the real target of the Lentarian king's enemies.

Rescuing the queen, battling thieving invaders, outsmarting repulsive trolls, and trying to stay one step ahead of someone who is bent on acquiring Mikal at all costs, Steve and Sarah must use all the powers at their disposal to keep their young charge safe. Teaming up with Rhenyon, the captain of the king's guards, they set out, little knowing they will encounter trolls, griffins, and an evil wizard who is intent on stealing their special powers. Infiltrating the wizard's lair is not for the faint of heart, and the couple find themselves in the midst of more action than they bargained for in the magical kingdom of Lentari.

Outstanding! Continuing on from Book 1, the plot thickens and the characters are fleshed out, along with a few more new ones. Mr Poole's writing style is simplistic and engaging, adding realism and empathy to the story. A few minor errors but nothing glaring, I highly recommend adding this to your "......more

Yes, I finished it in one sitting. Can't wait until the third book is out. Characters are well developed and interesting - the type of people I wouldn't mind having a beer with in real life. Jeffrey Poole has done an amazing job with this story and I can't believe it's his first. As I said, can't wa......more

See, this time I was smart. I went into it knowing what sort of book I was going to get, after that little expectation mishap in my review of the first book. Although the book still straddles an odd line for me between being Young Adult or Breezy Grown-up, it's still a lot of fun. Reading too much da......more

Once again I was ushered into Lentari through the Portal of Jeffrey Poole's exceptional talent. I genuinely enjoyed this read equally as much as "The Prophecy" (Book I) Once again my only discontent was being sad that my adventure came to an end in just under 2 days of reading. Alas it could not be......more
