About Jenny Valentine

Jenny Valentine studied English literature at Goldsmiths College, which almost put her off reading, but not quite. Her debut novel, Me, the Missing, and the Dead, was a Morris Award finalist in America and won the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize in the United Kingdom under the title Finding Violet Park. Fire Color One, Jenny's follow-up, has been nominated for the prestigious Carnegie Medal. Jenny is married to a singer/songwriter and has two children.

I'm getting a little tired of all these cutesy, sickly sweet books, shows, and movies for kids that feature overly nice and improbably articulate children contending with "conflicts" hardly deserving of that name. The jokes feel hollow, the ideas are light and fluffy. How are kids these days ever go......more
