About Ian McDonald

Ian McDonald was born in 1960 in Manchester, England, to an Irish mother and a Scottish father. He moved with his family to Northern Ireland in 1965. He has won the Locus Award, the British Science Fiction Association Award, and the John W. Campbell Memorial Award for Best Science Fiction Novel. His novels include King of Morning, Queen of Day (winner of the Philip K. Dick Award), River of Gods, The Dervish House, the graphic novel Kling Klang Klatch, and many more. In 2019, McDonald was named a Grandmaster of Science Fiction by the European Science Fiction Society. He now lives in Belfast.

About Esther Wane

Esther Wane is a British actor and voice-over artist. After a career in finance, she fulfilled a childhood dream of going to drama school in London, and her life as an actor began at age forty. She has a lifelong passion for literature and can often be found browsing bookshops during any spare moments. Wane enjoys taking her listeners on a journeys in time and space and bringing the characters on the page to life in their imagination. She lives with her family and collection of books in Hertfordshire, just outside London.

I was sent this by the publisher, Tor, at no cost. It's out in late Feb, 2023. My first reaction was and is: What. On. Earth. What did I just read? I mean, aside from "something wonderful", which is easy and true, but gives no information. Seriously though I was a third of the way through this book......more

I seldom get actual goosebumps at the end of a book. I did with this one. I take issue with the summary on this page billing this book as a romance. It is a love story, but it's so much more than a will-they-or-won't-they. The main couple aren't even the main focus of the book. The focus is humanity......more
