Here All Along

Finding love was last on the list of things I needed to do. I had some personal things to work out before I could even think about searching for my soul mate. From where I stood at the moment, that seemed like something that might never happen.
However, I couldn’t help but notice August. We had been friends since we were children. He had a crush on me years ago, but I didn’t feel the same way at the time. He was simply my friend.
He had grown and matured recently, though. I felt something different when I looked at him now. The problem was, he had long since given up on a relationship with me. I could tell he had closed that door years ago, and that was precisely why I found myself wishing I could open it again.
