Synopsis

It’s been years since the members of the Sisterhood first banded together, with the help of their mentor Charles Martin, to exact their own form of justice on those whose crimes had gone unpunished by the legal system. Now, back in the United States after an enforced exile, and ensconced in a new home on Big Pine Mountain in North Carolina, Myra, Kathryn, Annie, Alexis, Isabelle, Yoko, and Nikki are breathing easy at last – but not for long. One dark night, under cover of a vicious storm, a helicopter lands on their mountain. The Sisters aren’t about to wait to be ambushed. Braving the storm, they set out to greet their guests, only to be told by Charles that the mysterious visitors are the Sisterhood’s new employers, and they’ve got a dangerous new assignment in mind. The task they face is daunting. If they succeed, the Sisterhood will be rewarded beyond their wildest dreams. If they fail, they’ll forfeit much more than a paycheck. But if the Ladies of Pinewood have learned one thing over the course of their adventures, it’s that when friends band together, miracles can happen… “Revenge is a dish best served with cloth napkins and floral centerpieces…fast-paced…puts poetic justice first.” – Publishers Weekly on Payback “An unforgettable story.” – Rendezvous on Weekend Warriors

About Fern Michaels

Self-described as someone who can scribble notes and tell great stories, author Fern Michaels, aka Mary Ruth Kuczkir, is a very prolific writer having written 147 books, with 90 being on the New York Times best sellers list. She was born in Pennsylvania, coming into this world as "a dinky little thing", as her father called her. She spent the early part of her adult life becoming a wife and mother of five children. After her children were grown, she separated from her husband, who was a very negative person, and began putting pen to paper to begin her writing career. She had always loved books, and writing one seemed to be the best chance for her to make her own way through the rest of her life. Her first manuscript was not published, but the second attempt was, and so began her illustrious career.

Her successful career allowed her to put all five children through college, on her own, which she claims is one of her most proud accomplishments. She says that when all is considered, family is the most important thing. Fern also bought a beautiful old (300 year old) plantation in South Carolina, where she still lives today. Her grandmother gave her very sage advice many years ago, which she lives by today.......when God is good to you, you have to give back. She developed the Fern Michaels Foundation which grants four scholarships to deserving students. She also opened a pre-school and day care center for single moms who are having a hard time supporting their family.

The quote that best describes is a Dutch saying.......If you can't whistle on your way to work, you don't belong in that job. She follows by saying, "I whistle all day long".

The Sisters got the job done, of course. The story line in this one, however, was somewhat disjointed. The edge wasn't there in this one. In fact, in places a little boring. The basic idea of "bad person gets just desserts" is there and that's good. But no real excitement in this one. Ok, I just lis......more

Not so typical of Fern Michaels, this book of the series isn't so contrived. In fact, the depth of her other tomes is nearly lost but the language isn't quite as stilted. She still has the characters going ga-ga over a kiss but at least she's not dwelling on it. Reality check - three characters are......more
