About David Ashton

DAVID ASHTON was born in Greenock in 1941. He studied at Central Drama School, London, from 1964 to 1967, and most recently appeared in The Last King of Scotland and The Etruscan Smile. David started writing in 1984 and he has seen many of his plays and TV adaptations broadcast - he wrote early episodes of EastEnders and Casualty, and twelve McLevy series for BBC Radio 4.inspectormclevy.com

I don't hand out five stars lightly and I can't quite put my finger on why I found this particular installment in the series so involving but I found myself totally immersed in the doomed romances that drive all of the events of the novel.......more

This one was a mixed bag. The writing and McLevy were as good as usual, and we got to see a new side of McLevy we hadn't seen before. However, a lot of the storylines I quite frankly wasn't interested in. I didn't care about Jean's love story or Mulholland's. I get characters need to grow, and I do......more
