Synopsis

Prilla, the newest fairy to arrive in Never Land, is so odd that Never Land itself isn’t certain whether to let her into Fairy Haven. Prilla shakes hands when she meets other fairies, and she says “Pleased to meet you,” instead of “Fly with you.” What’s more, she calls Tinker Bell Miss Bell. Altogether, she acts more like a Clumsy than a self-respecting Never fairy should. To make matters worse, Prilla doesn’t know what her talent is–or if she has a talent at all. Mother Dove, the wisest creature in Never Land, thinks Prilla has a talent, but even she isn’t certain.
A diabolical hurricane, a selfish fairy, Captain Hook, snobby mermaids, a fierce golden hawk, and the evil dragon Kyto combine in a tantalizing elixir that tests Mother Dove’s wisdom, Tink’s courage, and Prilla’s mettle. Even Clumsy children on the mainland–even readers, wherever they may be–play a crucial role in deciding Never Land’s fate.

About The Author

When GAIL CARSON LEVINE was growing up, her favorite book was Peter Pan by James M. Barrie, and she thought Wendy was an idiot for wanting to leave Neverland. Gail has been reading fairy tales all her life, but she didn't start writing them until she was grown up. Her eleven books for children include Newbery Honor-winning Ella Enchanted, available on audio from Listening Library, and the picture book Betsy Who Cried Wolf. She lives with her husband, David, and their Airedale terrier, Baxter, in a two-hundred-year-old farmhouse in New York's Hudson Valley.

Absolutely gorgeous illustrations partnered with an actually enjoyable story. Very familiar if you were in the age range that watched the Tinkerbell films Disney Channel featured. Cute, sweet, and a bit more complex which is just why I enjoy in children tales.......more

This is oddly dark and intense compared to the Pixie Hollow books BUT OH MY HEART it is so good. Gail Carson Levine takes the original whimsy of Neverland and weaves a bleak but heartfelt magical tale. I don't remember ever reading it as a kid, but I think I will cherish it more as an adult.......more
