Synopsis

A petty thief known as John Smith was arrested for fraudulent behaviour in 1877. He tricked women into thinking he was rich, then stole their belongings and vanished. His guilt was obvious.

In 1852, Adler and Adolf Beck's father died on an expedition to a glacier, and their lives separated. One became a respected climate scientist, one a successful opera singer touring the world. Or so he claimed. But both remained in touch, if only to share the mysterious voices only they could hear.

Charles Ramsey also has a twin. It is 2050, and Greg is a journalist reporting on the climate-change inspired conflicts around the world. When Charles is made redundant from his job as a profiler for the police and sent home with a new experimental chip in his head, he is urged by his brother to explore a little-known aspect of their family history.

All of these people are connected. All of their lives will intersect. And the climate of their world will keep on changing.

CLARKE and the BRITISH SCIENCE FICTION AWARDS. THE ISLANDERS won both the BSFA and John W. Campbell awards. He was selected for the original BEST OF YOUNG BRITISH NOVELISTS in 1983.

As opposed to the Archipelago novels and stories and like An American Story, Expect Me Tomorrow brings a somewhat unorthodox take to a major topic of our times (with a bibliography at the end like the novel about 9/11 mentioned above), namely climate change, while tackling some aspects of police wor......more

The latest Christopher Priest novel is a science fiction novel that combines crimes of the past with a cli-fi setting of the future. It is rather unnerving and impressively clever. If you’ve read a few Christopher Priest before, such as The Prestige or The Affirmation, you may think you know what to......more

#8 Priest: Expect me tomorrow - or not? "Expect me tomorrow." A simple message. Your brother who lives abroad sends you this short message as he boards his plane to meet you the next day. It is quite certain that the brothers will see each other in just one day. Or do they? Around this statement, Chri......more

Expect Me Tomorrow skirts the line between fact and fantasy to create a dazzling piece of speculative fiction that’ll stay with you long after the final page, and for all the right reasons. I could talk about the characters — the Victorian glaciologist, the serial criminal, or the futuristic former......more
