Synopsis

Part memoir and part activist manifesto, this book offers Jewish text as an inspiration for all who care about body liberation. Minna Bromberg lays bare the harm of anti-fat bias by tracing her own journey from dieting at age seven to fat activism and the founding of her organization, Fat Torah. Her personal narrative highlights the restorative potential that Jewish tradition has for addressing fatphobia and inspires a culture of healing and acceptance of all bodies created in the Divine image.
“Rabbi Bromberg’s generosity of spirit and erudite insights into Jewish text give a grounded and deeply compassionate alternative to perfectionist body loathing in our Ozempic era. This book is a high-leverage ethical tool in the work of affirming the sacredness of every body.”—Hanne Blank Boyd, author of Fat and Straight: The Surprisingly Short History of Heterosexuality
