Synopsis

A thirty-day devotional offering encouragement and hope for anyone who has ever felt isolated by their disability, any friend who wants to be a true ally, any church leader who wants to build a community of belonging, and anyone who has ever asked, "God, why me?"

For too long, the conversation about faith and disability has been limited to platitudes, pity, or prayers for physical "fixing." This has left people with disabilities—over seventy million US adults—feeling isolated, misunderstood, and spiritually adrift. Divinely Disabled, a 30-day devotional that gently disrupts and alters common perceptions of disability and faith in a deeply comforting and profoundly challenging way, offers a new perspective.

Nadia Ibrahim Mossburg writes from a powerful intersection as a dedicated Jesus follower, a woman with cerebral palsy, and a senior disability policy adviser. She masterfully blends her personal story with each daily devotion, which includes a reflection, a closing prayer, and a practical Share Your Story section with prompts and tailored actions for those living with a disability, family members and caregivers, and ministry leaders. Over 30 days, this book will help:

Validate the unseen battles and complex spiritual questions that come with disability.Challenge ableism and equip readers to recognize and respond to harmful attitudes within the church.Empower individuals with disabilities to find their unshakeable purpose and value in God's design.Equip pastors, leaders, and caregivers with the language and perspective to move beyond mere inclusion.
Whether disability has touched your story only recently or has impacted your life since birth, this inspiring and supportive resource calls you to reflect on your own experiences and become an advocate for a more inclusive, compassionate world.

Quotes

“I’m so glad Divinely Disabled exists. In a world that often misunderstands disability, this devotional invites us into a deeper and more compassionate way of seeing one another with dignity, belonging, and spiritual depth. This book creates space for conversations many faith communities haven’t fully had yet. Divinely Disabled invites readers to reflect on disability, faith, and inclusion with honesty and care by listening to voices that are too often overlooked. I’m grateful this book is being shared with readers who want to grow in understanding and love.”—Jen Hamilton, RN, BSN, CEN, RNC-OB, New York Times bestselling author of Birth Vibes

“All of us, in our own way, are trying our best to move through life unencumbered by the setbacks that plague us. And then, there are those who stand out as a witness, not only as people who have learned how to do exactly this, but as leaders who can encourage and teach us how to do it ourselves! Meet my friend Nadia! Her new book, Divinely Disabled, is a master class in how to rise up, overcome, and stretch into the God-given potential you have inside you. My advice: Learn her story by reading her book. My prayer: Practice what she preaches. You’ll be glad you did.”—Dr. E. Dale Locke, founding and lead pastor at Community of Hope Church, South Florida

Divinely Disabled is a powerful and practical reflection on disability, faith, and belonging. Full of thoughtful questions and clear guidance, this book equips pastors, caregivers, and advocates to build more inclusive communities—offering insight that will resonate across diverse experiences and perspectives.”—Taryn Williams, senior fellow for disability at the National Partnership for Women & Families

“This book offers a powerful and encouraging message, beautifully written with spiritual depth and vulnerability. Nadia Mossburg engages disability in her life as an open passage for readers to explore their own disability experience—whether personally, as a loved one or caregiver, or as a church leader—and to offer wisdom for churches to be places in which God’s love spills over in abundance. This book is itself a journey . . . one worth taking!”—Dr. Thomas Reynolds, associate professor of theology at Emmanuel College
