Synopsis

"The story is as emotional as it is thrilling, and it reads like a major film." — PUBLISHERS WEEKLY

Jim Gash’s comfortable life as a Los Angeles lawyer and law professor nearly ensured that he and Henry, a Ugandan boy languishing in prison for two murders he didn’t commit, would never meet. Henry was losing hope and prayed for a sign from God. Halfway around the world, Jim listened to best-selling author of Love Does, Bob Goff, encourage lawyers to use their legal training to help imprisoned children in Africa. Jim felt an irresistible urge to respond to this call. Little did Henry know, his prayer had been answered.
Divine Collision tells the first hand, true story of how Jim and Henry, separated not only by an ocean and thousands of miles, but also differing cultures and life experiences, inspired justice reform for an entire country. Divine Collision is a fast-paced thriller and will keep you listening, wanting to know what happens next for Henry and Jim.

About The Author

Jim Gash graduated first in his Pepperdine law school class in 1993. He has clerked with a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, worked at one of the top law firms in the country, and served as dean of students at Pepperdine University School of Law. In 2010, Jim traveled to Uganda on a juvenile justice project, where he met Henry. In 2012, Jim became the Specialist Advisor to the High Court of Uganda and, in 2013, became the first American ever to appear as an attorney in Ugandan Court. In recognition of his ongoing work in Uganda, Jim received the 2013 Warren Christopher Award, which is presented to California’s International Lawyer of the Year. Today, Jim teaches at Pepperdine Law, directs Pepperdine’s Global Justice Program, and is scheduled to become an official citizen of Uganda in 2016. Jim and his family live in Malibu, California. Early in "Divine Collision," the author tells the starfish story, a myth about the power of one individual to make a difference in the world, even if it's only to save one starfish. The story is a fitting metaphor for Henry's and Jim's narrative. Jim Gash, a law professor at Pepperdine University, n......more

This was a very uplifting book which I enjoyed much more than I thought I would. It's about Jim, a lawyer and professor at Pepperdine University, who is led by faith to Uganda. He is there for a week to assist imprisoned children with getting their day in court. Some of the children had been there f......more

I received this book free via the Audiobook Sync program. I was surprised that they would offer an overtly Christian book in this program. I was even more surprised to begin listening and find that Bob Goff had written the introduction. Having read and been inspired by Bob Goff's Love Does, I was ea......more
