Synopsis

A SOUL IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE!In the second book in the Dead Jack series, the zombie detective hits rock bottom, bingeing on fairy dust and formaldehyde 24/7. Reluctantly, he sets out with a fellow zombie, the narcissistic Garry, to find his long-lost soul. But a new threat emerges: a neo-Nazi group that hunts down the depressed corpse, believing his sidekick Oswald has the power to capture all the souls in Pandemonium. Again, the wicked world needs saving, but this time can Jack also save himself?

About James Aquilone

James Aquilone was raised on Saturday-morning cartoons, comic books, sitcoms, and Cap’n Crunch. Amid the Cold War, he dreamed of being a jet fighter pilot but decided against the military life after realizing it would require him to wake up early. He had further illusions of being a stand-up comedian, until a traumatic experience onstage forced him to seek a college education. Brief stints as an alternative rock singer/guitarist and child model also proved unsuccessful. Today he battles a severe chess addiction while trying to write in the speculative-fiction game.

Eric G. Dove is a multiple Earphones Award–winning narrator, and his credits include more than one hundred audiobooks. He is also an accomplished musician and a budding author, who published Ghosts of Royston in 2013. He is a graduate of Ohio State University.

Reviews

Goodreads review by Dan

The second book of Dead Jack the zombie detective. While you can read this book by itself, I would recommend reading Dead Jack and the Pandemonium Device first to get a better sense of Oswald. Goodreads review by Jeremy

Much like its predecessor, this one is just okay. But I would still read more adventures of Dead Jack and his changeling buddy, Oswald. The biggest hurdle for me to overcome with the Dead Jack books is the total anthropomorphization of the dead, fairies and other fantasy folk. You've got your scenes......more

Quotes

“Dead Jack is wicked fun! Undead noir with a devious sense of humor. Highly recommended!” Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author

“Dead Jack and the Soul Catcher is a refreshingly raw and unfiltered horror comedy. James Aquilone fills this tale with gut-punch intensity and blindside plot twists. I found myself laughing out loud many times.” Michael Hodges, author of The Puller

“Dead Jack and the Soul Catcher is that rarity among book series in that it is even better than the first book. One can only wonder what goodies Mr. Aquilone will surprise us with when the next chapter arrives.” Ron Fortier, author of The Green Hornet & The Terminator comic books

“Dead Jack and the Soul Catcher is a more than worthy follow up in the Dead Jack series, and is everything you could want in a sequel. It’s packed with humor, Nazi-punching action, and twists aplenty. If you love supernatural creatures, noir detective stories, and humor tinged urban fantasy, you can’t go wrong with the Dead Jack series.” Charlie Cargile, PopHorror.com

“Dead Jack and the Soul Catcher ups the raucous mayhem with unforgettable characters, punchy dialogue, and smart world-building. I cannot wait for future installments so I can laugh some more at the world’s greatest—or perhaps worst—zombie detective.” Max Pfeffer, Booknest.eu
