Synopsis

The nights are dark in the Lake District. But the crimes can be even darker.
A young woman is found naked, cold and alone at an ancient stone circle but refuses to tell DI Kelly Porter her identity. Before Kelly can find a lead, their Jane Doe flees the hospital and disappears.
Soon after, Kelly is called to a brutal crime scene where a local woman has been stabbed in a frenzied but organised attack. Birds and animals were burned at the property with symbols carved into their flesh: the killer had a message to deliver. Kelly and the team discover a hidden society in the Lakes practising ancient, pagan beliefs but someone in their coven has crossed to a dark, violent path.
To get to the heart of the case, Kelly must confront a figure from her past: one who nearly destroyed everything. She'll need to risk it all to stay one step ahead of a vicious killer
A captivating and atmospheric detective novel from million copy bestseller Rachel Lynch, perfect for fans of Patricia Gibney and Cara Hunter.

This is the 6th book in the DI Kelly Porter series by author Rachel Lynch. I really enjoy this series and it was great to continue with the latest addition 'Blood Rites' which lived up to the promise of the previous books. DI Kelly Porter is on the case yet again. When a young woman was found in an ancient stone circle, circumstances are rather odd. Unfortunately for Kelly and her team, there are very few clues to be found as to why the girl was there, and as to her identity. To make matters even worse, the young woma......more

She's taken to the local hospital but is uncommunicative and unidentified. Then she disappears. DI Kelly Porter can't get the haunted child's face out of her mind, but so......more

As Rachel Lynch is one of my favourite authors I was delighted but concerned at the prospect of reading the sixth outing for DI Kelly Porter in her beautiful Lake District home. I needn't have allowed any concern because it was as gruesomely gripping as usual. Kelly is enjoying life although she mis......more
