Synopsis

From addiction recovery to divorce, yoga studios to psychic readings, this raw and inspiring memoir follows one woman's quest for inner peace across three continents. When her marriage crumbles, former wellness instructor Kirchner faces her deepest fears: relapse, family trauma, and losing faith in life itself. Her journey through meditation retreats, Manhattan spirituality, and an unexpected encounter with an Indian guru challenges everything she thought she knew about healing. Of her writing, an NPR interviewer said, it's like Eat, Pray, Love, but funny. It is a rare, true, and beautiful thing to watch someone transform on the page, raves Linden Review, praising Kirchner's evolution from ruthlessly cynical, to reluctantly open, to something resembling 'healed.' Kirkus Reviews highlights her self-aware and humble voice, noting how she effectively punctuates troubled personal history with the wisdom of mentors. Foreword Reviews calls it an entertaining memoir about how preoccupations with the 'meaning of life' obscure everyday appreciation, examining privilege, cultural appropriation, and the universal search for belonging. Themes: Recovery, Healing, Personal Growth, Wellness Perfect for readers of Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love and Cheryl Strayed's Wild Ideal for those navigating difficult life transitions through modern wellness culture, whether it's to attain spiritual growth or just a second date

About L.L. Kirchner

L.L. Kirchner is an award-winning screenwriter and Pushcart-nominated author whose life and work as an expat in Asia became the basis of two memoirs. Drawing on her eclectic background as a religion editor, dating columnist, and bridal editor, her writing combines humor with “her discerning eye” (Foreword Reviews)— or, as an NPR interviewer said, her work was “like Eat, Pray, Love, but funny”—taking on contemporary topics with context. Her work has also appeared in The Washington Post, Salon, and The Rumpus among numerous other outlets. In 2025, she will release the remaining two books of her highly anticipated trilogy, the Queenpin Chronicles, which began with her debut novel, FLORIDA GIRLS.
