Synopsis

What if a moment of perfect happiness was only a heartbeat away from shattering? In “Bliss” by Katherine Mansfield, you follow Bertha Young, a vibrant woman overflowing with excitement she can hardly explain - a feeling so bright it seems to spill into every corner of her world. As she prepares for an evening dinner party, every detail feels alive and full of promise. But beneath the shimmering surface of domestic harmony, subtle tensions begin to flicker. A mysterious connection, a lingering glance, a shared smile - each reveals cracks in the perfection Bertha so desperately wants to believe in. Mansfield masterfully exposes the fragile balance between joy and illusion, desire and disappointment, truth and the stories we tell ourselves. With her unmatched sensitivity, she paints a portrait of a woman on the brink of revelation. Press play and step into one of Mansfield’s most celebrated stories, where every moment glows with meaning and every emotion carries its own hidden shadow.

About Katherine Mansfield

Katherine Mansfield (1888–1923) was born in Wellington, New Zealand, and settled in Europe to finish her education. She published her first short fiction in The New Age, then in Rhythm, whose editor, the British writer and critic John Middleton Murry, she soon married. Her writing contributed to the development of the stream of consciousness technique and to the modernist use of multiple viewpoints, and her style has had a powerful influence on subsequent writers in the same genre.
