Synopsis

Jesus said, "The truth shall set you free," which, by implication, must mean, "The false will imprison you." From personal experiences in his ministry through comedy, Brad Stine has chosen eleven concepts to consider as a Christian, like:

● All "true" Christians will be offended by the same things and

● Sinners are worse people than I am.

Are they really true, or do we just believe them to be credible—even though there's no biblical support for them? More importantly, how does the belief in their veracity affect non-believers if we're wrong?

Brad has carefully considered these ideas, as well as lived many of them. Some of you may disagree with some of his conclusions, but if this book causes you to reevaluate what your faith means to you and in what shape it can come to you, then it has done its job.

Christians are different from each other in our theology, denominations, and social interactions, and you know what? That's as it should be! Christians who have taken the "If you don't all behave exactly like me, then you're not really a Christian" road have done the greatest disservice to furthering the Gospel!

One of my school teachers had said, "The world is like a fruit cake; it is incomplete without a few nuts in it." I believe this statement with all my heart and extend it to every religion too. Every single religion has at least a few believers who are nuts, no exceptions. So when a book openly decla......more

First off, I hadn’t heard any of the Stine’s stand-up comedy, nor have I known of any Christian comics. I love stand-up, I love a good sense of humour and I’m a Christian, so this audiobook had me at the title! I’m happy the author narrated this himself, as I think the material would’ve suffered fro......more

Not your ordinary "Christian" book I recommend this book for anyone because I believe there are thoughts and ideas contained inside that will make you laugh and make you think. In fact, for those of us who call ourselves Christians it will make us rethink what we thought we knew about being a Christ......more

Unfortunately, Stine comes across as an angry, cranky man in this book. I am pretty sure that my beliefs are all either mostly the same or extremely compatible with his, and yet I just didn't enjoy the book because his attitude throughout. Maybe I just don't get the humor? (it's been forever since I......more

While Stine takes a more conservative political stance than I do, I found several points where I agreed with his thoughts on theology & scripture. And his casual comic "I'm no expert, but here's what I think" approach was refreshing & entertaining. I liked that this wasn't another heavy-handed Chris......more
