The start of this is an eruption of Mount Erebus in Antarctica. While it is an active volcano, I am dubious that ash would fall in North America. This was an interesting story. Approaching a new ice age. Ashfall was interesting because it was all about Ash falling in a small town in Texas, where there are no volcanos nearby.
