This audiobook put me through an emotional wringer, and I happily added hours to my listening time. After months of struggling, this story finally brought my reading spark back! This listen is everything. Author Danielles writing is so decadent and rich, and the narration makes this one of the best dark fantasy books Ive EVER experienced in audio. The world is beautifully crafted, seamlessly introducing fae, witches, wolves, and sirens. The foundation of the characters is incredibly well done, and the narrator absolutely nailed their voice acting. The dynamic between our resourceful halfling heroine, Paege, the sweet werewolf Guy, and the grumpy alpha-hole heir Quentin is the absolute core of this addictive read. The tension was palpable in my headphones, the banter sounded phenomenal, and the performance made the chemistry undeniable. The plot is completely unpredictable. I was hooked from the first minute, and the twists, turns, and constant questioning of loyalty kept me guessing until the last, devastating chapter. Be prepared for a huge emotional investment; the narrators performance of the profound loss (OMG, the loss!) was devastatingI cried like a baby! That ending! I'm still processing the heart-wrenching cliffhanger.
