Synopsis

On Easter day in 1918, Frances Kemp looked out at the little thatched village and promised that, one day, she'd come back...Long before Miss Kemp became headmistress of the village school, she had reason to know and love Burracombe. Sent to stay with family, young Frances treasured her summers there and the friends she made. But as she grows up, she admits that there is someone there who is more than just a friend. As Frances watches so many get called away to war, she must struggle to find a way to get by while her sweetheart is away and a way to think about what lies ahead in a world where every day brings ever more uncertainty.

I read this after surprises in burracombe and I'm glad I did. In surprises in burracombe you find out more about the character Miss Kemp but her story isn't fully told. When I read A Burracombe Easter afterwards it tied the ends of her story up for me.......more

Heart warming I love the burracombe series I fill close to all the characters in the books and can picture them all in my mind.......more

A sad tale Yes a sad tale of life, loves and lost in the families caught up in the first world war in Portsmouth and Burracombe......more

A very short book! I assume it was written as part of the commemoration of WW1 centenary, it was a very brief glimpse into those times.......more
